SMG’s Benchmark Database has found that steak preparation is of the utmost importance in customer satisfaction. Customers whose steak was prepared correctly are much more likely to be highly satisfied. Those same highly satisfied customers are also more likely to return.
The SMG Benchmark Database shares another insight: 26% of customers whose steaks were prepared incorrectly reported a problem. This means that most customers eat their steak regardless of the preparation and walk out the door unsatisfied with their experience and unlikely to return. The solution to this problem is simple—be proactive. If servers have their customers check the steaks once they are served, people are much more likely to report any issues. This shows the customers that the restaurant cares about them and their individual orders.
