What is your position at SMG?

I am the technical team lead for our mobile apps team.


Tell us what an average day in the life is like for you.

Every day is about setting my team up for success. I collaborate with product teams and other parties in the technology department to ensure we're building the most powerful apps we can. I lead code development on the team, meet with our stakeholders, plan for what's next, and interview prospective talent for the department.


What is it like working on your team?

Inspiring! We have incredibly talented people on the team that are ready and eager to solve complex business problems. Our skills complement each other and allow us to thrive in a challenging environment. The mobile landscape changes quickly. My team rises to that challenge and always delivers a high-quality product.


What do you love most about your job?

I come to work every day knowing I will be challenged to solve difficult business and technical problems, which is a blast for this nerd! I have the support of a fantastic team, and there's never a dull moment. I've always been excited about the projects I work on at SMG. I take pride knowing my work helps the hundreds of thousands of users that install our apps.


How does your job contribute to our clients’ success?

Our technology team builds the tools our clients use every day. My focus is on what we can do with mobile devices to empower our users. It’s all about helping them spend less time searching for answers and delivering insights right to their pocket. We have dashboards with key scores, instant notifications about guest experiences, and we’re even able to help clients survey users in their own apps. These and other solutions give our users more time to focus on delivering a great customer experience.


What would you tell someone interested in joining the SMG team?

Success comes to those who are curious and are able to think critically about new and efficient ways of solving problems. There are always ways to get involved with projects you’re passionate about, even if you’re late to the party. SMG is also a terrific place to grow. I’ve learned a lot here, and I know that our open and supportive culture enabled me to get where I am today.
