Tell us what an average day in the life is like for you.

Every day is different. I virtually live in three worlds: product management, sales, and (of course) marketing—and I get to help bring them all together. A big portion of my time is spent researching and understanding the market. This means speaking with analysts, reviewing RFPs, keeping up-to-date with industry trends and technical jargon, and really getting the big picture of our competitive landscape.

I also spend a lot of my time aligning with the product roadmap to manage releases, product launches, and sales readiness. I work with many different people inside SMG to develop sales training sessions, define and create marketing materials that communicate product features, and help develop campaigns to attract new prospects and customers.

What is it like working on your team?

Three words: collaborative, creative, and cool. It’s a really fun team to work with. As a product marketer, you get to build relationships, lead cross-functional projects, and communicate with a diverse group of people.

What do you love most about your job?

“With great power comes great responsibility.” –Uncle Ben, Spiderman

Product marketing is a very cool career (in my opinion). It’s challenging in all the best ways, creative, and a constant learning experience. The coolest part about this job is you have incredible potential to shape the future of a product — from the buyer perception, to the way the sales team sells it, to the revenue it generates. You also get to work with some of the best and brightest people across the SMG organization.

How does your job contribute to our clients’ success?

I help connect buyers to solutions. Product marketing isn’t just about telling potential buyers what our products are—it’s about telling them why it matters to their business.

What would you tell someone interested in joining the SMG team?

There are no jerks here. SMG really values employees as well as their opinions and ideas. They want this to be a long-term destination, so they really care about the employee experience.

How would you describe SMG in 3 words?

Just three? Teamwork, culture, and fun
