Unleashed: A celebration of Take Your Dog to Work Day

Kim Klosak | Jun 22, 2018 Kim Klosak 06/22/18

Today marks the 20th anniversary of Take Your Dog To Work Day and to celebrate, companies all over the world are opening their doors to pets. At SMG, we’re lucky—we get this perk every Friday and love having our team of canine coworkers in the office each week. In celebration of the holiday, we decided to feature some of our most frequent four-legged visitors (and their human sidekicks):

Bonnie Remboldt [Associate Director] + Roxy

What is your favorite thing about bringing your dog to work?

When her friends are looking around the floor for her, IM’ing me to see if she’s here, and wanting to visit her instead of me. Bonnie who—where’s Roxy?

What's been an unexpected benefit of bringing your dog to work?

Thanks to Roxy being so social, I’ve met many “new to me” people at SMG.

What does your dog do all day while at SMG?

After visiting her favorite desks for treats, she looks out the window, takes naps on my desk, attends meetings, and plays fetch.

What does your dog enjoy most about coming to the office?

She loves to show off her fetch skills for anyone who is willing to throw her a ball.

What would be your dog's official SMG title?

Treat Analyst

Jordan Pedersen [Recruiter] + Oliver

What is your favorite thing about bringing your dog to work?

Stress-buster! It is impossible not to smile and be happy in an office full of dogs.

What's been an unexpected benefit of bringing your dog to work?

It increases social interaction with coworkers in departments I don’t normally interact with, who stop by to see Oliver and strike up a conversation.

What does your dog do all day while at SMG?

He constantly snoozes on my desk, sniffs out any treat in sight, wrestles with the other dogs, and uses those puppy eyes to woo employees into petting him.

What does your dog enjoy most about coming to the office?

Treats, treats, and more treats! And spending all day with “dad” is a good perk.

What would be your dog's official SMG title?

Sniffer of Talent

Brinda Swanson [VP, Strategic Partnerships] + Joe

What is your favorite thing about bringing your dog to work?

I love getting to spend more time with Joe and enjoy that coworkers stop by and pet him. It’s a great conversation starter for people I don’t usually interact with at work.

What's been an unexpected benefit of bringing your dog to work?

If the topic (and weather) allows, we sometimes hold our meetings outside and take Joe for a walk.  I love the fresh air and getting in extra steps when I normally wouldn’t leave the office.

What is Joe’s least favorite part of office life?

The elevators! He is deathly afraid of them. Unfortunately, taking the steps to the 5th floor is not a great alternative.

What would be your dog's official SMG title?

VP of Fluffiness or Chief Trash Inspector

Christen Spinelli [Account Administrator] + Ace

Christen_and_Ace

What is your favorite thing about bringing your dog to work?

Getting to spend the day with Ace and seeing him get love from everyone in the office.

What's been an unexpected benefit of bringing your dog to work?

I have made so many new friends because they love Ace and come up to see him every week.

What does your dog do all day while at SMG?

Sleep, play with the other pups, and eat at least 30 treats a day.

What would be your dog's official SMG title?

Senior Good Boy
